Assassin’s Creed is a popular game series from Ubisoft. Even if you’re new to the gaming world, you must have, at the very least, heard about this franchise. Assassin’s Creed currently has dozens of main installments in the series. And, on this occasion, Dunia Games would like to give you the release order of the main installments in the Assassin’s Creed series.

1. Assassin’s Creed - 2007

The first installment of the series, titled Assassin’s Creed, was released back in 2007. It managed to catch the attention of many gamers at the time as it has an epic storyline and engaging gameplay.
Assassin’s Creed is set in the Middle East during the medieval era and tells the origins of the legendary assassin, Altair Ibn La-Ahad.
2. Assassin’s Creed II - 2009

Following the success of Assassin’s Creed in 2007, gamers had to wait for about two years for the sequel. In the sequel, the story focuses on an assassin in renaissance-era Italy.
This game immediately became the fan-favorite, mainly because of the main protagonist (Ezio Auditore da Firenze). On top of that, there were tremendous improvements made to the gameplay, which made it even more exciting for players.

3. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood - 2010

Exactly one year after the release of Assassin’s Creed II, Ubisoft released the Brotherhood series. This game arguably serves as a continuation to Assassin’s Creed II as it adds a crucial plot that shows how Ezio got his purpose in life.

4. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations - 2011

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations serves as the last chapter in Ezio’s storyline. In this game, Ezio finds out that Altair has sealed an ancient artifact that can help him to destroy the Templars forever.
Aside from the engaging storyline, this game introduces the Hookblade feature, a device that allows Ezio to use ziplines to traverse the city and adds a new way to perform takedowns.

5. Assassin’s Creed III - 2012

The fifth main installment in the Assassin’s Creed series is set in a different timeline and location as the story focuses on the American Revolutionary Wars in the 18th century. The story follows Ratonhnhaketon, an assassin under the alias Connor, to blend in with the colonial circle.
The events in this game may be confusing to some players, but it’s still a great game.

6. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag - 2013

Black Flag is set in the colonial era, but the story predates the events in Assassin’s Creed III. In this game, players will follow the story of Edward Kenway as the main protagonist.
The game focuses on exploring the Caribbean Sea -- given that pirates are the main theme of this game. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag offers an open world element, in which you can upgrade your ship, build an assassin’s guild, and engage in naval combats.

7. Assassin’s Creed: Rogue - 2014

Rogue is the last installment in the series that is set in the colonial era. This game also has something different than the other titles, where players will no longer play an Assassin, but a Templar.

8. Assassin’s Creed: Unity - 2014

With this installment, the story focuses back on Europe. This time, it follows Arno Dorian, an Assassin who operates in Paris during the French Revolution in 1307.
In addition to the storyline, which gives the vibe of a murder-mystery, Unity also focuses on weapon customization, which adds an RPG element to the game.

9. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate - 2015

Syndicate is set in Victorian-era London, England. What separates this game from the others in the series is that it has two protagonists. You can switch to one of the Frye twins.

10. Assassin’s Creed: Origins - 2017

Assassin’s Creed: Origins brings so many major changes to the series. Assassin’s Creed: Origins brings changes to the setting and gameplay, even though the story is set in ancient Egypt during the Ptolemaic era.

11. Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey - 2018

Although it was released after Assassin’s Creed: Origins, the events in this game takes place centuries earlier. It is set during the Peloponnesian War. In this game, you can even choose which side are you going to fight for -- which is a new feature to have in the Assassin’s Creed series.

12. Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla - 2020

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is the 12th main installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, which also makes it the newest entry. It follows Eivor, a Viking who fought in the Norse invasion of England.
