The release date for Godzilla vs Kong has been announced. The film is said to be the end of the MonsterVerse saga that was introduced with the Godzilla reboot in 2014. The film serves as the opening of the MonsterVerse cinematic saga from Warner Bros and Legendary.

As the title suggests, Godzilla vs Kong will meet the two biggest monsters on the face of Earth. The two monsters will fight and create chaos. The fight began when Godzilla became a threat to humanity. Humanity has to rely on Kong to fight Godzilla.

If you just picked up the MonsterVerse, then you be confused as to how the two monsters get to meet.  How does it happen? To know the answer you have to know the MonsterVerse timeline order first.

MonsterVerse and Titan Origin

The two have existed for millions of years. But only a few are known about the ancient MonsterVerse. But bits of the ancient MonsterVerse tale are present in the films.

Kong: Skull Island explained the ancient MonsterVerse on Eart. One of the scenes shows a cave painting that explained how humanity made contact with a giant monster called Titan.

How MonsterVerse Started:

902 Million Years B.C.

During that year, the Titans hibernate after a meteor crashes on Earth. The meteor destroyed every life on the planet. It also bring powerful radiation that causes the Titans to mutate into MUTO. The Titan hibernates under the surface of Earth that is called Hollow Earth.

The Year 1934 

The Titan or Kaiju awaken for the first time after the long hibernation. The unidentified Titan destroyed U.S.S. Lawton, killing everyone but Willian Randa. He is the only survivor of the incident and every information known about the incident is buried by the government.

The Year 1944

During World War 2, an American pilot, Hank Malow, and a Japanese pilot Genpei Ikari got into a dogfight. Their planes crashed on an island called Skull Island. They tried to kill each other after knowing that they both survived the crash. But they immediately stopped after they saw Kong. Since then the two pilots worked together to survive.

6 August 1945 

The conflict between America and Japan ended when America dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. The incident results in two Kaiju waking up from their slumber, Shinomura and Godzilla. After waking up, they went to cities to find food. Since then humanity believes that monsters do exist.

The Year 1946

After knowing the existence of two giant monsters, humanity formed a multinational organization called Monarch. The secret organization was formed to find Titans on Earth. The organization itself is funded by Harry Truman. It managed to gather information about other Titans living on Earth.

The Year 1946 - 1950

The two Kaiju from Hiroshima, Shinomura or MUTO and Godzilla reappeared in Russia and the Philippines in 1946. During the event, an American soldier of Japanese descent, Eiji Serizawa was recruited by Monarch to find the whereabouts of the monsters. Shinomura or MUTO keeps on attacking multiple regions, from the attack on Western Australia in 1947, Moansta Island in 1948, New Zealand in 1949, and Guam in 1950. Both monsters created chaos for 3 years.

The Year 1952

A mysterious event happened in London, England, in 1952 after the two monsters went missing for several years. London was shrouded by deadly air pollution. The air pollution killed and injured thousands of people. A monster is believed to be the cause of the event.

The Year 1952 

Nine years after the U.S.S. Lawton incident, William Randa was recruited by Monarch as an assistant for the Cryptozoology department.

The Year 1953

A year after that, Monarch obtained the cell of Shinomura or MUTO in the Philippines. Monarch tested the cell to determine whether MUTO can regenerate into a new creature or not. But Monarch’s base was destroyed because of the test.

The Year 1954 

The following year, two Shinomura or MUTO joined into one body on Monsta Island. Knowing about the appearance of Shinomura, Godzilla reappeared and fight the monster. Godzilla killed one of the Shinomura with Atomic Breath, while the other Shinomura ran away.

Godzilla chased the escaping Shinomura and followed by Monarch. The two Kaiju arrived at Bikini Atoll and after knowing the two monsters were at the same location, Monarch launched a nuclear bomb to destroy both. But only Shinomura was killed in the explosion while Godzilla survived.

The Year 1959

Five years after the bombing at Bikini Atoll, there were two sightings of Godzilla. The first was when a sonar caught a giant deep-sea creature. The second was from a satellite photo. Although it was not confirmed as Godzilla.
