The Season of Alola has ended, and now it’s time to enter the Season of GO. The 4 Guardian Deities in Tier-5 Raid Battles are now replaced by the Water-type Legendary Pokemon: Kyogre. It’s time to catch as many Kyogre as you can until 7 June. But, why is it important to have Kyogre?

The first reason is that Kyogre is the strongest Water-type Pokemon for now. This Pokemon works great in Raids and PvP Master League battles. Secondly, is that now it has its Shiny form, which you can add to your Pokedex.

Even if you already have one, it’d still be useful to have its Shiny form. Shiny Kyogre with a low IV can still be traded in Lucky Trade with your friends to get a higher IV.

Thirdly, is to get more Kyogre Candy. Candy is required to power up your Pokemon up to Level 40. Kyogre doesn’t always appear in Raids, so, it’s the perfect time to catch it. As well as the XL Candy, which will be so useful to power it up from Level 40 to Level 50.

You will really need it as a Level 40 Pokemon is incomparable to a Level 50. The good news is, starting in Season of GO, you can collect XL Candy from Level 31 (previously, you had to reach Level 40 first). Therefore, be sure to collect them from now to get Kyogre XL Candy to power up your Kyogre to its maximum level.

Last but not least, is the Primal Mode preparation. The Mega Evolution feature has been added to Pokemon GO. And for Kyogre as well as Groudon, they don’t have Mega Evolution, but instead a Primal Reversion.

Both are actually quite similar, they both temporarily change a Pokemon to its more powerful form. And over time, Mega Evolutions can be used in Raid and PvP Master League Battles.

Now, assuming that the Mega Evolution feature has been added, it is likely that the Primal Mode will soon follow. Therefore, Trainers start to hunt Kyogre once again to get the ones with higher IV or at least to collect more XL Candy. Just imagine how powerful a Level 50 Primal Kyogre would be!

To counter Kyogre, be sure to use Electric/Grass-type attacks for the 160% Super Effective boost. Some of the best Pokemon you should consider using are Zekrom, Zarude, Raikou, Therian Thundurus, and Electivire.

For a more common Pokemon, you can use Roserade, the evolution for Roselia. If you want to use Mega Evolutions, there are 2 things you should consider. If you lack firepower, you can use Manectric, Venusaur, or Ampharos Mega Evolutions. But if you’re comfortable with your offense, you can use Gyarados Mega Evolution to get more Candy or XL Candy after you manage to defeat and catch Kyogre.
