Besides the protagonist, there’s an antagonist character to make the Resident Evil franchise whole. The antagonist is usually the rival of the protagonist and creates a conflict in the story.

Antagonistic characters tend to be depicted as evil or use the wrong method to get their goal. This is because you are seeing things from the perspective of the main character or protagonist.

Who are the female antagonists in Resident Evil? Find out on the list below.

1. Alexia Ashford

Alexia Ashford and her brother Alfred Ashford are the antagonists in Resident Evil CODE: Veronica. Alexia becomes a superhuman thanks to the t-Veronica Virus. The Virus is later user used by Carla Radames to create the clone of Ada Wong.

Before the event of Resident Evil CODE: Veronica, Alexia purposely put herself in cryostasis after getting injected by the t-Veronica Virus. After sleeping for 15 years, Alexia wakes up. With her new power from the virus, Alexia wants to conquer the world. But Chris Redfield foiled the plan.

2. Alex Wesker

Alex Wesker is one of the candidates for Project W. A project started by Ozell E. Spencer, the founder and owner of Umbrella to create the perfect mankind he dreamed of. Alex is the 12th candidate alongside Albert who was the 13th candidate are the only surviving children of Wesker. Like other Wesker children, Alex is “programmed” to find their creator, Ozwell E. Spencer. Until she finally reaches a high position at Umbrella.

3. Carla Radames

Next is a female antagonist who became a victim of blind love, Carla Radames. Initially, she is a researcher on the team formed by Derek C. Simmons who is obsessed with Ada Wong. She created the C-Virus that is ironically used on her because of Simmons. The virus transformed Carla into Ada Wong. She is then brainwashed to be Simmons’ companion.

Somehow, Carla got her memory back. Because of her grudge for Simmons, Carla formed an organization named Neo-Umbrella. She is also the mastermind behind the C-Virus chaos in Resident Evil 6. Ironically, Carla Radames died in the hands of the real Ada Wong.

4. Svetlana Belikova

Next is a female protagonist named Svetlana Belikova. She is the President of the Eastern Slav Republic in Resident Evil Damnation. Svetlana is a very beautiful President. She is also the first female President of the Eastern Slav Republic. Svetlana creates peace in her country for some time by granting special autonomy to the region where the rebels lived.

But it didn’t long because Svetlana used her power to destroy her country and reap profit. She worked with the rebel council and shared the profit from selling oil with them.  

5. Lisa Trevor

Lisa Trevor is a victim of Umbrella. She became a test subject far before Umbrella is founded. Lisa Trevor has a unique ability that made her immune to Umbrella’s viruses. This is why Umbrella made her a test subject. Resulting in Lisa’s body looking like a monster.

The existence of Lisa Trevor was first revealed in Resident Evil umbrella Chronicles. She became Albert Wesker’s opponent, the scientist who experimented on her. She also appeared in Resident Evil HD.

6. Excella Gionne

If you play Resident Evil 5 then you are familiar with this antagonist. Excella is the leader of Tricell, an organization that appeared when Umbrella Corporation is destroyed because of the Raccoon City incident. Initially, Tricell fought against bioterrorism. But under Excella, Tricell became the new Umbrella.

Excella died after her partner, Albert Wesker betrayed her in Resident Evil 6. Wesker injected her with Uroboros. The beautiful Excella then became a monster called Uroboros Aheri.

7. Annette Birkin

Annette is William Birkin’s wife and Sherry Birkin’s mother, she was responsible for developing the G-Virus with her husband William. When he injected the G-Virus to his body, Annette decided to stop him with any means necessary -- including leaving her daughter.

8. Marguerite Baker 

Marguerite Baker is Jack Baker’s wife and a sadistic woman. Why? Because enjoyed every murder she did. She is also the mastermind behind Mia Winters’ kidnapping that happened three years prior to Resident Evil VII.

9. Eveline

When you first played Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, the first impression you get is a ghost. But the true concept of this game is not about ghosts. This game by Capcom has many antagonists that will become your opponent.

But the most iconic antagonist in Resident Evil VII is Eveline. Eveline may appear like a ghost at first, but as you delved deeper into the game, you will realize that she is a genetically modified creature. The child who wanted a family is embedded in the back of your head even after you finished played Resident Evil VII.

10. Lady Dimitrescu

Lady Dimitrscu is a female antagonist introduced in Resident Evil Village. There’s not much information known about her. Lady Dimitrescu or Alcina Dimitrescu is Capcom’s version of a vampire. Her elegant appearance hides the darkness in her personality. Resident Evil Village Art Director, Tomonori Takano said that Lady Dimitresscu is a crossover between a wealthy European lady from the 16th century, the cruelty Elizabeth Bathory, and the urban legend Hasahaku-sama.

She is not alone. Lady Dimitrescu is accompanied by her three daughters, Bela, Cassandra, and Daniella. Unlike their mother, the daughters seem to be more bloodthirsty.
