The Final Fantasy franchise surely already familiar among gamers all over the world. One of the best RPG games and franchises of all time is kept on releasing the best games with superb graphics and interesting characters.

In this article, Dunia Games will talk about ten popular male characters in the series according to the official poll on the Square Enix website a few years ago. Here they are:

10. Vincent Valentine (Final Fantasy VII & Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII) 

A man with a cold, mysterious behavior and hiding dark past. Vincent is a contract killer using a custom revolver as his main weapon. This character a half-cyborg created as a human experiment by Professor Hojo. His past is later revealed on Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII.

9. Cecil Harvey (Final Fantasy IV)

Cecil is a character from Final Fantasy IV which also services as one of the oldest sequels in the series. This man is described as a character who undergoes a transformation process as the story goes. At first, Cecil was a Dark Knight, where his powers originated from shadow, darkness, and evil. As the story progresses, he later turns into Paladin, a knight whose powers blessed from light.

8. Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII) 

As an antagonist in the Final Fantasy series, it turns out that Sephiroth is very popular in video game fans. The character who considered as a destroyer from the most romantic love story in the video game world is described as a very evil being, powered with superhuman abilities. His powers are based on Jenova cells planted on him since he was a baby by Shinra Company. The company looks like has a goal to make Sephiroth a killing machine.

7. Kain Highwind (Final Fantasy IV)

Kain is a commander of Dragoon platoon, a group of spear-wielding elite troops that can jump so high. This character is a best friend and step-brother of Cecil Harvey. Aside from mastering ”Jump” skill, Kain can also use White Magics to cure wounded allies in battle.

6. Bartz Klauser (Final Fantasy V) 

Bartz is the main protagonist of Final Fantasy V who decides to travel the world after his father passed away. At a glance, Bartz looks like a normal traveler. As the story progresses, Barts later granted the power to be a Warrior of Light which originated from a mysterious crystal. This occurrence leads Barts into a thrilling adventure to save the world.

5. Squall Leonhart (Final Fantasy VIII) 

Squall can be said as one of the handsome characters ever created. Using a gunblade (a gun and sword hybrid weapon), this silent character is a member of a secret organization that paid to do numerous missions. Squall later changes into a very different character when he meets Rinoa, a woman he loves dearly.

4. Tidus (Final Fantasy X) 

It’s different than other characters in the series (cold, silent, and mysterious), Tidus is described as an easy-going man. He also a very popular man, because of his profession as a Blitzball athlete with many achievements. His life drastically changes after Sin attacks his birth village, resulting in he involved in an adventure filled with dramas.

3. Zidane Tribal (Final Fantasy IX)

Zidane is the only representative of Final Fantasy IX on this list. He is described as a playboy with two professions, as an actor and as a thief. In battle, Zidane uses two daggers. Sometimes, Zidane combines the two weapons into a bigger one. His signature appearance is his tail in which becomes the answer to his dark past.

2. Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII)

The success of Final Fantasy VII which nominated as the best Final Fantasy game ever created is not separated from Cloud’s role. He experienced a tragic history, when his friend Aerith, killed right before his eyes. Fueled with anger and sorrow from this event, forcing Cloud to save the world. In the end, this character meets with Tifa, his childhood friend, as well as his partner since the beginning of the game, who can overcome his sadness over losing his friends.

1. Zack Fair (Final Fantasy VII & Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII)

This character was introduced as a side character in the Playstation 1 and later as the main character in PlayStation Portable (PSP) game titled Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII unexpectedly managed to appear as the most popular male character in the series. Zack is told to be second Buster Sword owner before Cloud. Compared to Cloud, this character has an easy-going and cheerful attitude.
