“Vaanstrong reminded me of Baloyskie.” That striking statement came from none other than Alter Ego’s head coach, Xepher.

HomeBois officially secured a slot at the MSC EWC 2025 after reaching the grand final of MPL MY Season 15, and while gold laner MelQT earned his praise, it was Ivann “Vaanstrong” who stole the spotlight with his incredible performance as a roamer.

Surprisingly, the same player who had once faced constant criticism during his EVOS days has now delivered his best performances away from Indonesia. From being ridiculed to now becoming the backbone of Malaysia’s top team—Vaanstrong’s journey has truly flipped the narrative.

Meanwhile, EVOS—his former team—had crashed out of the MPL ID S15 regular season, finishing a disappointing seventh and missing playoffs once again. The contrast couldn’t be starker.

Vaanstrong Reminded Xepher of Baloyskie

One of the most intriguing compliments came during Xepher’s livestream. The veteran coach didn't mince words, openly praising Vaanstrong’s gameplay and likening him to one of the Philippines’ legendary roamers.

“Vaanstrong is so good. When I watched him, he looked like a thinking player. I saw shades of Baloyskie in him. He played really well—we even scrimmed against HomeBois,” Xepher shared during his stream.

This comment shouldn't be taken lightly. As a coach with a high level of experience, Xepher recognized qualities beyond just mechanical skills. He highlighted Vaanstrong’s macro awareness and game sense—something that has made him a vital pillar in HomeBois’ success.

Vaanstrong’s journey serves as an important reminder: sometimes, a player simply needs the right space and timing to thrive. In Indonesia, he had been doubted. In Malaysia, he has flourished.

If HomeBois can maintain this level of performance going into MSC, Vaanstrong could soon be considered one of the top roamers on the international stage. And EVOS? They might end up regretting his departure more than they ever imagined.
