According to the latest leak, Xiaomi, one of the major players in the smartphone industry, is rumored to be bringing back the pop-up front camera design to their latest smartphone product line. The 3D rendering of the unnamed smartphone shows the appearance of a pop-up front camera.
The pop-up camera design was first introduced by vivo NEX in 2018. The aim is to provide a visual experience that is not distracted by holes or notches for the front camera, which are commonly found on most smartphones today.
Based on a Gizmochina report, referring to information leaked by a source known as FixedFocus. They have also shown a render of the Xiaomi device which has a pop-up front camera with an updated design.
According to the leak, Xiaomi's implementation of the pop-up camera design will be based on the "Hidden Electronic Devices and Hidden Camera" patent. This patent promises a more efficient use of space, which will result in a device that is thinner and lighter than previous pop-up front camera models.
This new design is expected to address some of the drawbacks of the previous model, such as the increased weight and size of the device. In a patent filed with the National Intellectual Property Administration, it states that reflective components play an important role in protecting the camera module, reducing space usage, and improving pixel quality.
Although the popularity of pop-up cameras has dropped in recent years, many brands have opted for punch-hole cameras or under-display cameras for slimmer designs. For example, Apple with its iPhone 14 Pro series adopted a dynamic island design, and the Huawei Mate60 series is rumored to follow a similar path.
However, with Xiaomi's return to the pop-up camera design, it shows that this technology still has innovation potential. This updated design delivers a true full-screen experience, with a nearly invisible front bezel adopting a four-curved design.
With this design, users can experience a more immersive experience, displaying the screen without any obstructions. Xiaomi's decision to bring back the pop-up front camera may also mark the start of a new direction in the smartphone industry, offering users innovative and visually appealing design options.
