Presenting crossover characters from various games seems to be the key to success of today’s fighting game. This was seen from the King of Fighting Game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that brings various characters from various game genres, Injustice game that brings many characters outside DC comic like Hellboy and also Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, to Mortal Kombat 11 that brings Terminator, Alien to Predator in their game.

For the title of the last game they mentioned, it turns out the Mortal Kombat series had secretly planned a surprise for the fans of fighting games. The game produced by NetherRealm Studio had planned to collaborate with another famous fighting game, Street Fighter. Unfortunately, the big plan was never carried out because Capcom turned down the collaboration.

This was revealed in an interview with Eurogamer website, the producer of Capcom, Yoshinori Ono explained the details behind the failure of Street Fighter collaboration with Mortal Kombat. “It’s true that there was a proposal for a Street Fighter to bring their characters in Mortal Kombat was rejected by Capcom. But it wasn’t my personal decision.” Ono explained. 

Ono felt that the mix of Street Fighter characters that were similar to anime characters with Mortal Kombat games that full of sadistic actions and blood was not a good thing. "We (Capcom) feel this is not suitable for our characters," Ono added.

"We've done a lot of collaboration over the years, Marvel vs. Capcom, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom ... Maybe this (collaboration) just failed for now, but Capcom is always interested in doing something like that (collaboration). When you feel there is a good fit, we will move quickly to make that happen, "said the man who is responsible for most of these Street Fighter games.
