Yoshihiro Togashi hinted at the possible return of his Hunter x Hunter manga with a Twitter post on Wednesday, May 1st 2024. In the post, the artist shared a photo of a piece of manuscript with the number 5 written in the corner, hinting that he is working on chapter 405.

Not only that, the post also included the text, "Moon Healing Escalation!," which is a reference to the healing moves used by Sailor Moon, a character originally created by his wife, Naoko Takeuchi.

On Thursday May 2nd 2024, Togashi again posted two more images of the script, one with the number 6 and the other with the number 7, hinting at the progress in writing chapters 406 and 407.

The previous October, Togashi had also dropped a similar hint by sharing a photo of a corner of the manuscript bearing the text, "Start over." However, although he has revealed that chapter 401 of the series was completed in March 2023, he has not confirmed when the manga will be re-serialized.

The Hunter x Hunter manga went on hiatus in January 2023 after the publication of chapter 400, citing health issues experienced by Togashi. At the time, Shueisha stated that they had consulted with Togashi, and decided not to continue the weekly serialized format for the manga.

The editorial department added that they would reveal details about the manga's return and how the serialization format would be arranged once that information became available.

After a nearly four-year hiatus, the manga finally returned in the 47th issue of 2022 magazine, which was published in October 2022. Since its hiatus in November 2018, fans of the manga have been eagerly awaiting its return.

Hunter x Hunter was first launched by Togashi in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1998. The manga has inspired two television anime series, two anime movies, several original video anime titles, as well as several stage shows.

Shueisha published the 37th volume of the manga, the first after a four-year hiatus, in November 2022. Viz Media also delivered the 37th volume in English in October 2023.
