Until now, YouTube is still trying to fight ad blockers, especially those on mobile. They just announced that they will "tighten the rules" on third-party apps that can access YouTube videos without ads. When you use such apps, you may encounter problems like buffering or error messages.

YouTube says its rules prohibit apps that turn off ads because it hinders revenue for content creators. As an alternative, YouTube recommends that we use a Premium membership if we want to watch without ads. However, this Premium membership will cost you USD$14 per month.

Back in November, YouTube went out of its way to ask ad blocker users to disable it or switch to YouTube Premium. They start showing pop-up messages if the ad blocker is active. Then, you can only play three videos with the ad blocker active before you can't load any more videos. Google also admits that if you use an ad blocker, you may experience difficulties such as having to wait longer for videos to load.
