Yuya Yagira Live Action Gannibal Wins Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards!

Talented actor Yuya Yagira stole the show at the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards in Busan, Korea, when he won the Asian Excellence Award for his role in the live action adaptation of Masaaki Ninomiya's successful horror manga Gannibal.
The Gannibal live action series premieres in December 2022, consisting of seven episodes full of suspense and mystery. Disney+ and Hulu are broadcasting the series globally. Disney+ even announced that the series is the most watched series in local original production on Disney+ Japan, with an astonishing number of streaming hours.
The popularity of the series was great enough that Gannibal has gotten an upcoming second season, with the same cast and staff returning to take over the project. In addition to on-screen success, the Gannibal manga has also captured the hearts of fans.
The story of Gannibal follows the adventures of Daigo Agawa, a policeman who has just been assigned to a remote village called Kuge. Initially, Daigo is welcomed by the villagers. However, with the mysterious death of an old woman, he begins to investigate and discovers that this village has a dark secret as the people in this village eat humans.
Masaaki Ninomiya first published this manga in Nihonbungeisha's Weekly Manga Goraku magazine in October 2018. The series ends in November 2021 with the final 13th volume publishing in Japan in February 2022.
The accolades Yuya Yagira received are a testament to his talent in entertainment and his outstanding contribution in bringing the character of Gannibal to life. The success of this adaptation also has the potential to spark more interest in adapting manga works into live action formats in the future.
