Oscar Isaac's parents are Evangeline Christians and in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Isaac became the lead vocalist and guitarist for a religious Ska band called Blinking Underdogs. “I had to get recruiters to come all the way to Miami where my dad lives so they could convince him to let me join. I took the exam, I took the oath, but then we ended up raising money to record an album with The Worms. I decided to join Reserves instead,” said Isaac.

Everything changed once he realized that battle photography was not a real career move at Reserves. “I said I wanted to do battle photography. They said, 'We don't do that in Reserves, but we can give you an anti-tank?' Ha! I replied 'this is a little different from what I thought,'” Isaac said.

5. He was Expelled From School When He was in 7th Grade

Oscar Isaac was a bit stubborn when he was younger and admits he was expelled from his private school when he was in seventh grade. “I petted some animals that I shouldn't have touched,” Isaac said in an interview with Details.

“My school was built around someone else's farm, and there was a big wall, and we never knew what was behind it. My friend and I jumped in and found some of these exotic animals, namely the emu and the very unique little otter. We just started petting them all. Why not? But the man who owns the animal is complaining.” said Isaac.

6. His Sister is a Well-Known Scientist

Oscar Isaac's older sister, Nicole Hernandez Hammer, is a sea-level research scientist, climate change expert, and environmental justice advocate. She is Project Director for the Clean Energy State Alliance, where she works on both low and medium energy solar power.

9. He Gave His Uncle Dreamed Role in Star Wars
