Indonesian cinema network CGV Cinemas Indonesia announced that Odex will screen the anime film Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island (Kidou Senshi Gundam: Cucuruz Doan no Shima) throughout Indonesia on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island was released in Japan on Friday, June 3, 2022. The film earned about 300 million yen (worth 32 billion rupiah) and managed to sell around 150,000 tickets in its first two days of release.

The announcement regarding Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island describes the film as a retelling of the 15th episode of the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. The episode itself has been omitted from the English release version of the series.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island is set in the Jaburo Defense Federation, when the Federation plans to plan an attack on the Zeon invasion base in Odessa. Amuro and White Base head to Belfast to supply supplies, but White Base receives a new order: Head to the "Island of no return" to find and destroy the stray Zeon.

Amuro sets out for the island to look for Zeon's spies, but instead finds a group of children and Zaku's mobile suit on a supposedly uninhabited island. With the Gundam left behind, Amuro meets a man who calls himself Cucuruz Doan. After revealing the island's secret, Amuro tries to return to his Gundam to escape.

Manga creator and animator Yoshikazu Yasuhiko is directing the film and is also credited as character designer alongside Atsushi Tamura (Weathering With You) and Tsukasa Kotobuki (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, Saber Marionette J).
