The official Twitter account for the live-action film based on Kousuke Oono's The Way of the Househusband (Gokushufudou) revealed a trailer on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. A poster with the full title Gokushufudou: The Cinema has also been revealed. The Way of the Househusband live-action will be released in early summer 2022.

The cast from the The Way of the Househusband live-action series are reprising their roles for this film. The cast includes Hiroshi Tamaki as Tatsu, Haruna Kawaguchi as Miku, and Jun Shison as Masa.

Other returning cast members include Tamaki Shiratori as Himawari, Naoto Takenaka as Kikujiro Eguchi, Izumi Inamori as Ibari, Kenichi Takito as Torajiro, Yuta Furukawa as Sakai, Junpei Yasui as Sadogashima, Tina Tamashiro as Yukari, MEGUMI as Tanaka, and Michiko Tanaka as Ota.

Toichir Ruto, who previously worked on the The Way of the Househusband live-action series, is back to direct this film. The live-action series premiered in October 2020.

Kousuke Oono serialized The Way of the Househusband manga on Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch website in February 2018. Shinchosha published the eighth volume on September 9, 2021.

The manga also inspired an anime adaptation. The first part of this anime began airing globally on Netflix in April 2021 and lasted five episodes. The second part of the anime will also begin streaming globally on Netflix on October 7, 2022.
