Final Fantasy XIV to Resume Digital Sales on January 25, 2022
Final Fantasy XIV will again offer the "Home World Transfer Service" feature on January 26, 2022.

Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida announced on Square Enix's website that the company will resume digital sales for the game on January 25, 2022. He also announced that a new Oceania data center for the game will launch on the same date. Final Fantasy XIV will again offer the "Home World Transfer Service" feature on January 26, 2022.
The announcement reveals that Square Enix may consider suspending digital sales again if its servers continue to experience extreme bottlenecks due to the game being too popular and too many players filling the server capacity. Square Enix plans to re-open player registration for a free trial of the game after further monitoring the stability of this server.
Square Enix will also expand its Japanese, North American, and European data centers, starting with large-scale changes to the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XIV in July 2022. Square Enix will roll out the Data Center Travel System in the upcoming 6.1x patch.
Previously on December 9, 2021, Square Enix temporarily stopped the physical sales of Final Fantasy XIV. They also temporarily stopped selling the digital version of Final Fantasy XIV.
Square Enix has temporarily suspended new player registration for the free trial. The reason is because the server is experiencing problems due to long queues for new registrants who want to enter the game.
Square Enix also stopped serving all the latest ads for the game, although it noted that it would not be possible to suspend some of the ongoing ad campaigns.
Players who own the game can still purchase expansion packs and digital collector's edition upgrade packs for their existing Final Fantasy XIV games.
The game already has 25 million registered accounts from around the world as of early December 2021. An expansion pack called "Endwalker" for the game also recently debuted on December 7, 2021.
Square Enix released Final Fantasy XIV Online for PC in September 2010. After receiving criticism from fans, the company revealed an updated version of the game entitled Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn which added a new world and story.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn launched on Windows PC and PS3 in August 2013, and then on PS4 in April 2014. The game's companion app for iOS and Android launched in August 2019.
Square Enix released the first expansion pack for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, titled "Heavensward," in June 2015. The second expansion pack, titled "Stormblood," launched in June 2017. The third expansion pack, entitled "Shadowbringers," launched in July 2019. The game will also launch for the PlayStation 5 on May 25, 2021.
