Kazuya Kinoshita is the main male protagonist of the anime and manga series Rent-A-Girlfriend. He is a student at Nerima University majoring in Business Administration, he lives alone in an apartment located at 203 Royal Hills Nerima.

Kazuya is a man who often acts indecisively with a very low level of self-esteem. As a result, he ends up compulsively lying to those around him. Her lies often get her into trouble, as she cannot muster the strength to tell the truth and she is very emotional. He also often acts irrationally and illogically.

He usually keeps his chain of lies going to avoid the trouble of having to explain everything. An example is his fake relationship with Chizuru Ichinose which he maintained to comfort his grandmother. On the other hand, he realized he was getting into a lot of trouble trying to protect other people's secrets and make those close to him happy.

Despite often acting indecisively, being cowardly and having a tendency to lie, Kazuya is actually a very kind-hearted person and even shows great perseverance when going to great lengths to help others for his own sake.

2. Mami Nanami

Mami Nanami is a minor antagonist in the Rent-A-Girlfriend anime and manga. She is a freshman at Nerima University and becomes Kazuya Kinoshita's ex-girlfriend whom she broke up with for another man, thus sparking the main conflict of the anime series Rent-A-Girlfriend.

In public, Mami appears to be a sweet and friendly person. Behind that persona, however, Mami has shown sociopath tendencies, such as cunning, manipulative, and petty behavior, which Mami does around Kazuya and Chizuru's relationship. When her friendly figure disappears, Mami's jealous and possessive feelings frighten those around her.

Although no longer dating Kazuya, Mami often tries hard to get more information about Kazuya and the girls he is with and also tries to keep them all separate. It is still unknown whether she did this because she still had feelings left for Kazuya, or if her motivation was simply revenge.

3. Chizuru Ichinose

Chizuru Ichinose, otherwise known as Chizuru Mizuhara in her "rental boyfriend" persona, is the main female protagonist of the Rent-A-Girlfriend anime and manga series. She is a student at Nerima University majoring in Literature and he is currently living in Room 204 of Royal Hills Nerima, right next to the apartment room that Kazuya Kinoshita is occupying.

4. Ruka Sarashina

Ruka Sarashina is a supporting character and an occasional minor antagonist of the  Rent-A-Girlfriend anime and manga series. She is a girl whose heart beats slower than anyone else's, and she is looking for a lover who will help her overcome her condition.

5. Sumi Sakurasawa

Sumi Sakurasawa is one of the main female deutragonist of the Rent-A-Girlfriend anime and manga series. She is a first year student and works as a rented boyfriend with the same company where Chizuru Ichinose works, where Sumi is a newcomer to the girlfriend rental business industry. She is also the protagonist of Kanojo's spin-off series, Hitomishimasu.

6. Mini Yaemori

Mini Yaemori is a supporting character from the Rent-A-Girlfriend series. He is the neighbor of Kazuya Kinoshita and Chizuru Ichinose who is also a YouTuber, and a streamer on Nicolive and Twitcasting.
