Demon Slayer is one of the best-selling anime and has amazing quality. Now the series has entered its finale in the second season and we are shown the battle of demon hunter Tengen Uzui against Gyutaro. So far, the demon hunters despite being strong were portrayed as fragile.

They were just normal humans who if injured would have a hard time in battle. On the other hand, demons are creatures that are difficult to kill and can survive severe injuries because they have super fast regeneration.

It made the demon hunters fall on the battlefield. There are eight of the most tragic demon hunter deaths in the Demon Slayer anime. So what are the most tragic deaths of demon hunters in this series? Here's the review!

1. Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri Kanroji is unexpectedly one of the most powerful Hashira ever. She was even able to fight until the end when Kibutsuji Muzan rose and ended up fighting the Demon Hunters. This is where all the fans finally get to know how powerful Kanroji is.

Known as Hashira of love, was able to manipulate her muscles to produce terrible physical strength. Even with just her bare hands, she was finally able to sever Muzan's hand which gave the Demon Hunters an opening to finish him off.

2. Gyomei Himejima

Gyomei Himejima is one of the Hashira who played a big role in defeating the moon demon of the first rank, Kokushibo. The power he has is able to overwhelm a figure as strong as Kokushibo until he is finally able to finish him off even though the wound is quite serious.

Even so, he still had a lot of energy to fight against Muzan. It was in this final battle that he lost a number of limbs, leaving him so badly injured that he died. Himejima's death is sad because he died after Muzan was defeated.

3. Kyojuro Rengoku

One of the Hashira whose powers were brutally displayed. After we saw the terrible power of Giyuu, then in the Mugen Train arc, we were shown the figure of Kyojuro Rengoku who has tremendous power. This Fire Hashira is the key to victory against Enmu in the Mugen Train arc.

Unfortunately, the third top rank demon, Akaza, suddenly appeared. Kyojuro, who went to great lengths to protect the 200 people on the Mugen Train then sacrificed his life in a life and death battle. Even though he knew he would lose, Kyojuro still fought with all his might against Akaza.

4. Kocho Sisters

Before Shinobu Kocho became Hashira, it turns out that her older sister, Kanae Kocho, first became Hashira. But unfortunately, the older sister died in the battle against Doma who was the second upper moon demon.

Therefore, Shinobu strives to increase her strength and understanding of demons in order to take revenge on Doma. Sure enough, they ended up fighting but unfortunately Shinobu was eaten by Doma who is a demon who loves women.

Shinobu's death feels sad because through her death, Shinobu can finally poison Doma and make Inosuke and Kanao Tsuyuri able to finish off Doma.

5. Sabito

Sabito is one of the fighters who has fought against demons and is Tanjiro's ‘older brother’. Sabito appears to motivate Tanjiro when he is struggling to do his training as an aspiring Demon Hunter.

Tanjiro himself does not know that Sabito is already dead. Tanjiro himself only found out that Sabito had died after taking the Demon Hunter exam. Of course this is an irony because without Sabito's help, Tanjiro might not be able to take the exam.

6. Muichiro Tokito

One of the youngest Hashira where according to Tengen Uzui, he managed to become Hashira after two months holding the sword! This really shows that Muichiro is a genius. But unfortunately he had to die when he faced Kokushibo.

At the beginning of his encounter with Kokushibo, Muichiro lost his arm and couldn't do anything about it. But in the end, he was able to contribute a lot when crippling Kokushibo after being able to awaken the power of his red sword.

Muichiro died after his body was split in half due to being hit by a slash from Kokushibo.

7. Genya Shinazugawa

One that contributed greatly to the battle against Kokushibo! Besides Muichiro, Genya also has a big role when the Demon Hunters finish off Kokushibo. With his ability to absorb demon powers, Genya awakens weapons that make Kokushibo difficult in battle.

Just like Muichiro's death, Genya's body was also split into two parts due to Kokushibo's ferocity. His contribution was extraordinary even though he had to pay it with his life.

8. Muzan Siege Army

Hashira and the top-ranked Demon Hunters didn't work alone. They mobilized a massive army to besiege Muzan in his own territory. With determination and courage of steel, they fought to the death even though they knew they could die easily.

Sure enough, escaping from hiding after his men were defeated, Muzan slashed one by one this army. What made it so extraordinary was that these sieges had power far below Hashira and Tanjiro, but they still dared to surround the Demon King Muzan.
