The February issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Alive magazine revealed that Mugiko's manga adaptation of Nigoju and Umibozu's light novel series titled The Detective Is Already Dead (Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru) is on hiatus. The Detective Is Already Dead manga will return starting on March 26, 2022.

The December issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Alive magazine stated in October 2021 that the manga will climax on November 27, 2021. The magazine also published the epilogue for the latest arc of The Detective Is Already Dead manga on November 25. December 2021.

Mugiko serialized  The Detective Is Already Dead in Monthly Comic Alive magazine in May 2020, and Kadokawa published the manga's fourth volume on December 23, 2021.

Nigoju published the first volume of The Detective Is Already Dead in the illustrated light novel series by Umibozu in November 2019 under MF Bunko J Kadokawa's imprint. The novel won the 15th MF Bunko J newcomer award in 2019. Kadokawa will publish the novel's sixth volume on November 25, 2021. The novels inspired an anime series that premiered on July 4, 2021.
