The creator of the Chainsaw Man manga named Tatsuki Fujimoto turned out to be more involved in the production of the Chainsaw Man anime compared to other mangaka in an anime adaptation project based on a manga.

Chainsaw Man manga editor Shihei Lin also revealed on his Twitter account on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, "Fujimoto-san has seen all the Chainsaw Man pitch documents, story structures, scripts, and even the storyboards. He continues to be in close contact with the MAPPA anime team."

Mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto's involvement in the Chainsaw Man anime production project is no longer a secret. At the Anime Expo event in July 2022, MAPPA studio producer Makoto Kimura revealed that Tatsuki Fujimoto's involvement extends to the casting, planning, and music fields of the Chainsaw Man anime production project adapted from the manga.

This was done because the staff wanted the Chainsaw Man anime version to capture as much of the original vision of the manga as possible, including the violent and bloody aspects as well. MAPPA approached Shueisha with an offer for the project.

The anime premiered on TV Tokyo and five other TV Tokyo affiliate channels, as well as on Amazon Prime Video from October 11, 2022. Crunchyroll streams the anime as well in more than 200 countries and regions worldwide.
