The official Twitter for Yabako Sandrovich's Kengan Ashura anime adaptation announced on Thursday, March 24, 2022 that the anime will receive a sequel. Netflix will distribute the Kengan Ashura sequel worldwide. The sequel will feature the finale of the Kengan Annihilation Tournament and the conclusion of the original story.

Kengan Ashura premiered on Netflix globally in July 2019. The second part of the anime series, consisting of episodes 13 through 24, will debut on Netflix in October 2021.

The anime previously premiered at the Anime Expo event in July 2018. Kengan Ashura manga won a fan voting contest in 2015 to receive its anime adaptation.

Seiji Kishi (Danganronpa The Animation, Yuki Yuna Is a Hero) is directing the Kengan Ashura anime at studio Larx Entertainment. Makoto Uezu (Akame ga KILL!, The Heroic Legend of Arslan) is in charge of series composition, and Kazuaki Morita (Tsuki ga Kirei, Assassination Classroom) is designing the characters.

Yasuharu Takanashi of Team-MAX (Fairy Tail, Naruto Shippuden) is composing the music. MY FIRST STORY performs the anime's theme song "King & Ashley." Hip hop artist BAD HOP performs the anime's ending theme song "Born This Way."

Yabako Sandrovich serialized Kengan Ashura featuring illustrations by Daromeon on the Manga ONE app in 2012. The manga ended in August 2018, but resumed when a new arc launched on the Manga ONE app in January 2019.
