In its effort of educating youths in the country, PBESI showed its eagerness to make esports an extracurricular activity in Middle Schools, High Schools, and Vocational Schools. This program was discussed during the Piala Presiden Esports 2021 media talk titled "Building Career Paths for Esports Athletes & National Achievements" which was also attended by Ashadi Ang, Head of PBESI Public Relations & Communications.

Ashadi Ang said that early education is necessary to distinguish between playing video games as an esports player and playing games just for fun. He doesn’t want Indonesian youths to be too addicted to a game -- to the point that they drop their education.

On top of that, this program also aims to instill the right approach in students, what to do what not to do. It is expected that this way, PBESI can help the students to decide what they want to do after graduating from school.

"We want to differentiate playing games from training to become an esports athlete. We don’t want them to be too addicted to video games. We want to educate youth from an early age when they’re still in middle school. Meaning that, when we talk about an esports ecosystem of this size, we educate them on what to do and what not to do.

That’s why we target them from an early age so that we can mold their mindset. It’s also so that we can arrange a correct work program for them to finish school. It’s the reason we give this extracurricular program, to provide students with the foundation and education about esports," Ashadi Ang said.

This program isn’t just made for those who aspire to become a pro-player, but also for those who want to be part of the ecosystem. For example, if a student wants to become a streamer, they can take part in the esports academy that PBESI provides (open for the public), then they can also focus on other specialties, such as learning to become an esports caster.

"Once they are aware 'I have an interest in becoming a streamer' after they graduate from school, they can take PBESI’s esports academy, which is open for the public, then they can learn other specialties like how to become a caster," he added.

PBESI continues its effort in developing the country’s esports ecosystem with its programs by making esports an extracurricular activity in schools. Stick around for more esports and gaming info, and make sure to follow Dunia Games on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates.
