Kadokawa revealed a new promotional video on Monday, October 3, 2022 for the second season of the KanColle anime titled KanColle: Itsuka Ano Umi de (KanColle: Someday in that Sea). The KanColle: Itsuka Ano Umi de trailer reveals that the anime series will premiere on November 3, 2022. Toshi Ryugen is performing the KanColle: Itsuka Ano Umi de anime theme song "Shigure."

The KanColle: Itsuka Ano Umi de anime series will have eight episodes (as opposed to a regular television series around 11-13 episodes long), as the production team specifically wanted to improve the quality by telling a more concise story with fewer episodes.

The cast of this series includes Saki Fujita, Yumi Tanabe, Aya Suzaki, Yui Horie, Iori Nomizu, Yui Ogura, Risa Taneda, Kozue Hayasaka, Wakana Miyawaka, Mana Komatsu, Ayana Taketatsu, Yuki Yamada, and Nao Tōyama.

Kazuya Miura (DRAMAtical Murder, Full Dive, Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!) is directing the anime at studio ENGI. Kensuke Tanaka, the original writer for the KanColle franchise, co-wrote the scripts for the KanColle: Itsuka Ano Umi de anime. Chika Nomi designed the characters. Kaori Ohkoshi is composing the music, while Yuichi Imaizumi is the sound director.

The anime is based on a web browser game launched in 2013 and is set in a world where humanity has lost control of the oceans. A threat that has taken over the seas is the Abyssal fleet. The only ones who can fight this threat are Kan-Musu (Fleet Girls), girls with the spirit of a navy ship from the past.
