The official website for the Ultraman anime adapted from Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi's manga made an announcement on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. The announcement revealed that the second season of the anime will premiere on Netflix starting April 14, 2022. The website as well as Netflix has posted the latest trailer of the anime. The video reveals and features the opening theme song "3" performed by NOILION.

The website also announced that Maaya Sakamoto will play Izumi, a journalist and the lover of the protagonist Kotaro Higashi. Junichi Suwabe will voice Alien Pedanto in Ultraman. The first episode of the new season will also be screened at the "Ultraman World Premiere and Orchestra Concert" event on April 10, 2022.

The first season of the Ultraman anime premiered globally on Netflix in April 2019 and has 13 episodes. The series then premiered on Japanese national television in April 2020. Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East, Napping Princess) and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed, Harlock: Space Pirate, Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars) directed the first season of the Ultraman anime.

Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East, Napping Princess) and Sola Digital Arts (Appleseed Alpha, Starship Troopers: Invasion, Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars) are producing the anime in 3D CG. Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi are in charge of composing the music.
